Now that you know what a post is and how it’s different from a page, let’s walk through how to actually create one. This is one of the most important things you’ll learn in WordPress, because posts are the heart of most websites—especially blogs, news sites, and personal journals.
Start by logging into your WordPress dashboard. From the left-hand menu, hover over “Posts,” then click “Add New.” This will take you to the post editor, which is where all the magic happens.
At the top, you’ll see a space for your post title. This is the headline that will appear on your site and in search engines, so try to make it clear and engaging. For example, if you’re writing a post about how to take care of indoor plants, your title could be something like “5 Easy Tips for Keeping Your Houseplants Healthy.”
Below the title is the main content area. You can click and start typing your post right away. WordPress uses something called the “block editor,” which lets you add different types of content blocks—paragraphs, images, headings, lists, quotes, videos, and more. Just hit the little plus (+) button to add a new block, or press enter to start a new paragraph.
You don’t have to write everything perfectly the first time. You can always save your post as a draft by clicking the “Save draft” button in the top-right corner. That way, you can come back to it later.
